If I move to another golf club, the first thing that I would buy would be another POGO. Or two. Every golf club should have POGO.

The POGO is an incredible tool. I can takes samples in the morning then print out a visual map of each green to hand to my staff so they know exactly where to hand water and where not to. It gives me moisture to EC and temperature data I need to make great correlations so I can manage my greens better.

I’d highly recommend purchasing POGO. You’re going to see savings of money and time, as far as watering and chemicals and fertilizer because you’ll be treating your grounds more selectively—based on what it tells you, instead of just applying it across the board.

As a new superintendent it’s tough to get to know the problems areas of your greens and manage them effectively right away. With the purchase of POGO it allowed me to measure and analyze data easily, and as a result I was able to learn my greens much quicker than it would have taken without it.

Prior to purchasing POGO we were sending soil and water tests to labs for analysis semi-annually. The salt issues on our greens would be compounded daily due to the poor quality of water we are using. Once we purchased POGO we could see the results of high salinity in real time. Having that data was extremely valuable in notifying our staff exactly when to flush our greens. We are now able to react and take preventative measures before any visible deterioration occurs.

I’ve used the other tools on the market, but POGO gives more information with greater accuracy, and it’s more useful because it does the analysis for you. It’s had a huge impact on how well we can manage our course. Before POGO we’d have a rain event and think the greens would be ok for a couple days. Now I know which greens are actually good for more than a couple days, and which might need watering sooner.

Since we purchased POGO, we’ve been able to manage our greens far better. Being able to have the analysis done automatically for us allows us to pinpoint the areas that need treatment more accurately. This system is far more impressive than the tool we were previously working with.

In my first year of using POGO my wilt point was about 14%. Over the last 1.5 years, I was able to reduce it to 10% -11% on average. POGO helps me manage the property on a daily basis and allows me to keep it as consistent as possible, and give the membership the best playing surface I can.
