Happy Mother's Day to all our 'mom' turfers out there and to all our turfer spouses who we know keep us in line! Thank you for all you do!
Here's a short paper on understanding EC and POGO's Salinity Index to help clarify a few questions/answers. Be careful not to confuse POGO's SI with a 'salt index'. They are not the same. POGO created the salinity index analysis and associated EC measurements specific to turf
Thanks John! True every ion adds to EC including H2O influence. Use POGOs Salinity index to determine bad v good salts. Bad iins have higher influence on EC per ppm. POGO SI is spot on at indicating a growing problem. Higher VWC does not always mean higher EC. It's not linear. https://twitter.com/turfmonkeyboy/status/1382650308476739586
It's great to see you find the value of uniformity useful. It is. Too many think the patterns are the same. They aren't. Turf is very dynamic...greens, fw's and all. It's the trends and uniformity that are far more important than numbers. Thanks for your feedback!
2) DM questions continued. B) numbers are less important to us then uniformity. Numbers on either side of the desired range tell us what to do next
Global POGO use scientifically operating within a 0.1% margin of error (variance), and 1 out of 12 users now POGO'ing fairways, POGO is showing again that you can't predict the dynamics of turf without an ample number of representative turf samples. In minutes, best decisions!
Spending a few days with cooperating Supers in the Phoenix AZ region. Collaborating with the USGA to help illustrate the various influences on water utilization in fairways...and POGO is dispelling some erroneous assumptions. More to come! This extensive analysis took <15 minutes
