Meet Fabio Caceres, POGO’s Director of Business Development – LATAM. Based on his experience across environmental monitoring, water resources, agriculture, and other technical fields, Fabio brings a broad perspective to his work with turf professionals across Latin America, Spain, and Portugal.
With three years at POGO and three years in the turf industry, Fabio works with golf courses and sports turf professionals to implement data-driven management practices using soil measurements, environmental monitoring, and precision irrigation strategies.
Bringing Data Together
One of Fabio’s favorite aspects of POGO is the ability to bring different sources of information together in a single platform.
Turf management involves more than any one measurement. Soil conditions, weather, irrigation, and other environmental factors all contribute to what is happening on the turf. Bringing that information together gives turf professionals a more complete view of their property and the conditions affecting it.
By connecting different types of data, turf professionals can better understand variability across their property and use that information to improve uniformity, efficiency, cost control, and resource use.
A Diverse Technical Background
Before joining POGO, Fabio’s career took him through a wide range of technical and environmental fields.
His experience includes environmental monitoring, meteorological and hydrological networks, water resource management, analytical instrumentation, horticulture, environmental services, and agricultural production.
That diverse background gives Fabio a unique perspective when working with turf professionals. His work isn’t limited to one type of measurement or one area of turf management. Instead, he brings together knowledge from several disciplines to help customers understand how data can support their day-to-day management practices.
Today, Fabio applies that experience to helping turf professionals across his region make better use of technology and field data.
Supporting Turf Professionals Across LATAM
As Director of Business Development – LATAM, Fabio works with customers and turf professionals across Latin America, Spain, and Portugal.
His role includes helping golf courses and sports turf facilities understand how POGO can fit into their management practices, from collecting soil measurements to incorporating environmental data and developing more precise irrigation strategies.
By working directly with turf professionals, Fabio helps connect the technology with the practical challenges teams face in the field.
Science, Technology, and the Outdoors
Fabio’s appreciation for the natural environment extends beyond his work.
He enjoys spending time outdoors, whether walking a beautiful golf course or taking in a scenic landscape.
He says, “For me, the combination of science, technology, and the natural environment is what makes this industry so rewarding.”
